As Christmas approaches, we read in scripture the glorious news of Jesus’ birth and how richly God comes to us, making straight the crooked and rough places plain (Isaiah 40: 1-11). This scripture is also heard musically every Christmas by way of George Handel’s majestic and beautiful “Messiah” and in Psalm 85, we read how God looks with favor on His people and has forgiven their iniquity. We hear that our Lord is patient and wants us all to be saved (2 Peter 3 Vs. 8-14). Mark 1 Vs.1-8 tells us of Christ’s coming through the announcement of John the Baptist.
