The Lord God speaks comfort to the Israelites in Isaiah 40 (verses 1-11), forgiving their rebellion and showing mercy to them. Psalm 85 calls upon the Lord for protection from those fears we all have of death, Satan and utter darkness. Patience, trust and faith in God’s promises are noted in 2 Peter 3 (verses 8-14) as we await the return of Jesus on that final day. Mark 1 (verses 1-8) reveals the mission of John the Baptist to prepare for the coming of Christ, who will baptize us with the Holy Spirit.
