The prophet Micah (8th Century B.C.) gives a message directed to Jerusalem (6:1-8). His parallel structure of doom/hope includes a reminder of God’s deliverance of the Israelites out of Egypt. When David writes the meditative Psalm 15, he calls on his readers to walk in faith and fellowship with God. In 1Corinthians 1:18-31, Paul proclaims the power of God, recognized by faith-filled believers. Matthew 5:1-12 describes the blessings to those who “hunger and thirst for righteousness” (v. 6).
