In Exodus 17: 1-7, the weary Israelites complained of thirst in the wilderness. Their hardened hearts prevented them from realizing God’s tender promise of provision. Instead, they tested Him. Despite their doubt, He provided life-giving water. Psalm 95:1-9 recalls joyfully, the miracle God performed through His servant, Moses. Paul writes about the suffering that produces endurance and character that results in hope (Romans 5:1-8). In John 4: 5-30, 39-42, Jesus assures the Samaritan woman at the well that the water He provides permanently quenches thirst.
