Shepherd of the Hills is a congregation and member of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod.
We believe that there is only one true God, who exists in Three Divine Persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
We believe that man, made sinless and in the image of God, was deceived by Satan (peccatum oringinale) and must therefore be delivered from sin, death and the devil.
Jesus Christ, the Second Person of the Holy Trinity-eternally begotten of the Father, having also become true man by the operation of the Holy Spirit by whom He was conceived in the womb of the Blessed Virgin Mary- suffered and died on a cross making perfect and everlasting atonement for the sins of the human race, and subsequently rose from the dead, ascended into heaven and continues forever as King of kings and Lord of heaven and earth. Therefore, we hold to the teaching of the apostles that “if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:9).
We believe that baptism saves us from death and damnation, delivering us from the devil’s dominion, thusly securing for us a place in the God’s eternal household in heaven. We believe that Jesus Christ bestows the fullness of salvation on us who receive His true Body and His most precious Blood at Holy Communion. We also believe that by the ministry of Christ’s Church and His appointed servants, sins are declared forgiven, and that where there is forgiveness of sins, there is grace and salvation. Therefore, we believe that it is critical to our Christian journeys that we sustain membership and participation in the church where Christ gives Himself to us in His Word and in His Holy Sacraments.
At Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran, we adhere strictly to Sacred Scripture.
