In Deuteronomy 30:15-20, Moses gives a reminder to take seriously God’s law. The writer provides a vivid contrast between a godly life and a worldly one. The psalmist urges believers to follow the Lord with their hearts and minds (Psalm 119: 1-8). One observes a common thread of obedience and faith in these Old Testament passages. Paul identifies the divisive nature of the church in Corinth (1Corinthians 3:1-9), and reminds his readers that God is the object of their worship, not fellow, erring human beings. Matthew 5:21-37 addresses anger and the need to replace the dangerous emotion with reconciliation.
