Scripture tells us of God’s establishment of the Passover and how in detail it shall be done. He rescues the Israelites by placing the blood of a perfect lamb over their doorposts, when the Lord strikes down the Egyptians for their cruelty and Godlessness (Exodus 12:1-14). This Passover parallels the sacrifice of Jesus whose innocent blood was shed for our salvation. Jesus gives His disciples in John 13 (verses 31-35) a new commandment that they are to love one another as Jesus has loved them.
