Turning from lies, falsehood and mistreatment of our fellowman is read in Isaiah 58 (verses 3-9). We should rather seek kindness, mercy, and goodness in dealing with our neighbor. These righteous deeds are further brought to us in Psalm 112 (verses 1-9) where it tells us also to be merciful and gracious to others which is honored in the sight of God. 1 Corinthians 2 (verses 1-16) reveals that by the Gospel the Holy Spirit directs us to know Jesus only and Him crucified. In Matthew 5 (verses 13-20) our Christian light is to shine and not be hidden from the world.
